Changing active runway

Postby VTproPilot » Tue Mar 15, 2005 5:11 pm

I'm new to the forum, but I've been flying for about 5 years and have been using SIMVIATION since I started flying... anyways here's my question:

Is there any way to change the active runway on any aiport in FS2002???

Any help would be great... thanks!

The wind direction determines the active runway-you land and takeoff into the wind.  So, if you want a specific runway, just set the wind manually.

I noticed this in 2002 before I upgraded. It did it when I got the sim, stopped for a while, and right before I got 2004 it started doing it again. On some large airports, such as Dallas or Chicago, if there are two parallel runways it will use one for takeoff and one for landing. 2004 does this perfectly naturally.

If you want to force a runway to be used no matter what (for example, the other runway leads into a mountain), you can set all the other runways to not be allowed takeoffs and/or landings in AFCAD, available for free on SimV.

riight, i've known chicago can use both runways at once, but landing on one and take-offs on the other? mabye my FS202 & FS9 are crippled.

maabye they do it in real life as well. i should know, considering i live under O'Hare's 14R flightpath...
