fs2002 won't start

After installing FS2002 Professional Edition and receiving "successful installation" messages I double click on the desktop icon but all I get is the opening screen "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 Professional Edition" with the B747 and then the program won't start;what is wrong and what can I do?;thank you for your help.

Quite often, with a new installation of FS, the problem lies in incompatible system drivers. In particular, older graphics adapter drivers not being Direct-X 8 compatible.

To check, run the Direct-x Diagnostic utility to see if your GA is up to snuff.

Hi David...!
How long have you waited after double-clicking the Icon...?
It often takes a while for the program to load-up all the files, scenery, textures, etc...!
After a while a progress bar will appear across the screen...
Have a look at your hard drive light...if it's flickering then the program is loading...!
