Fantastic - it is working again! I checked out some of the pages you had pointed to, and one was very helpful - http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... 7252&Produ ct=gms

I tried what is advised, which didn't produce any results, but in the end I deleted the Fraunhofer codec, and Media player, and then reinstalled FS2k2, including Media player........result!

So thanks very much RFB, and if it helps anyone else, even better   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well, i'm glad it worked for you. I've deleted the codec, uninstalled the game, uninstalled media player, with this:
Run: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall

Put everything back on, except the codec, and it still doesn't work.
Where can i find the appropriate codec?
Please help as i'm getting frustrated here.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I think you will find the codec on your Windows disk(am I right about this?) or through one of the links mentioned earlier. I'm hesitant about advising as I know very little about pc systems etc, and can only tell you what I tried, which was somewhat a case of trial and error.

I'm running Windows 98, so if you are using a different version, maybe you will have to do something different?

Sorry I can't be much more help..........

I've installed a third party codec but still no luck. I've tried your suggestion too and ended up the same way.
But thanks very much for your support.
If anyone else has any tips, they will be most welcome.

Macastro, check the FS2002 disc/s for the file "wfmdist.exe". Cant remember which folder it will be in on the CD's but I do believe it is there.  See if there is a folder "Dist" or similar, should be located in that. Remove any third party codec  first!!!

After this..if sound is still not working properly, and after checking all settings in both the sim and in your system's sound configurations and have checked for and installed latest sound card drivers, see one of the troubleshooting links I gave in a few posts above regarding known sound issues with certian sound cards for FS2002/Pro/2004.
