A great comment to the FFX/SGA DC-10 30

Hi ,

I install the FFX/SGA DC-10 30, and a panel dedicated. What a great airplane ! It's "handable" in a way that I cannot explain... is near the size of a 747 but is even more quiet than a 737, with a reserve of incredible power when you need, and the cruise speed of 350 kts/ias. What I most appreciate are the approaches.

Is that so good also in the real aviation ? Someone out there who drive the DC-10 30 ?

I agree - the FFX DC-10 is an impressive plane, especially with the dedicated soundpack.

Another good FFX model is the B727, to continue the tri-jet theme!

never flown a DC10/md11, but their biggest competitor, the L-1011 (a.k.a Lockheed TriStar) was said to be the better aircraft, especially during the approach phase.

* Larger, more efficient rudder
Because Douglas opted for straight duct on the no2 engine, height restrictions prevented them to design a better rudder (read: taller)

* More efficient placement of the no1 and 3 engines
The s-duct on the TriStar allows for a lower CoG, so the wing engines could be mounted farther away from the fuselage. hence

I personaly like the 727 when it comes to landing because of it's small size, and thrust.  It seems to react faster than the other boeings but it may just be a issue of size.  I do believe that it is a tad bit faster at 30k ft(about 20-50knts) but I can't remember.
