Strange climb

Postby gilbates » Thu Jul 24, 2003 12:54 pm

Hi guys just wondering if anyone could shed some light on trhe reason why my 737-500 climbed out of control and eventually broke up

i had been flying on autopilot for a while going from charles-d-gaul to heathrow

Everything was normal then for no reason she just started to climb

i checked everything
Altitude
Speed
Airbrakes
Grear
Flaps
Turned auto p on -off

the only way to get her to fly straight was to go to manual and push the stick forward

which would normally produce a dive

Put it back on auto pilot and just watched it climb , overspeed and brake up

Any thoughts from anyone more experienced

Is it possible you activated Take Off/Go Around Mode without knowing it?

When I first installed fs2002 on my old computer, I occasionally encountered a glitch that caused this to happen.  I wound up doing a re-install of fs2002 and it never happened again. :-/

i believe it has something to do with the autopilot adjusting the trim all the way to the bottom causing the nose to pull up, as to how to fix it, i am not sure you need to adjust somethign one one of the config files, but i am not sure which.
out of curiosity is this the default aircraft?? or a downloaded one? i have only had this happen on downloaded aircraft personally

Did you put the Dreamfleet 737-400 panel into an FFX737-500?
I know there is an unrealistic climb rate if you do that(if thats the case, there's a fix somewhere-I can't remember exactly where now.lol)

I understand your reluctance to reinstall, but I recently ran into a few problems myself, and rather than spend hours fiddling with the stuff, I decided it was high time to reload, so I did.  And guess what, it wasn't that bad.  Try it!  All the files you added to the game will be left right where they are, and when you reinstall FS will just go in around them.  After installation, it will be just like it was before.

One warning, though!  Back up all of your aircraft.cfg files, just the parts with the aircraft name and the user interface (ui_) stuff.  Then put that back in afterwards.

I am going to start reinstalling every few months, just to keep the files from getting corrupted, and I would recomend that solution to everyone!

Ya, this happens to me, but rarely. I was going on slew one time, and took it off, and the plane instanty went to 0 knots, started flipping out, going in loops, and eventually got to 99,999 feet in like 20 seconds. It's happened a couple times actually....

I have had this happen to me several times over the course of my travels, so far I haven't seen anyone pinpoint the actual cause or how to fix it, (although there have been plenty of good suggestions).
Anymore if I encounter this problem, I find the nearest airport, land and file a new flight plan. When I take back off everything is fine.
It doesn't seem to matter if it's Freeware, Payware or Default aircraft either, it happens randomly, personally I think it's an annoying bug.
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...
