lock ups over and over again

Hi, fs 2002 kept locking up so i reinstalled it. When i lauched it it worked perfectly. After twenty seconds rolling on the runway it locked up again. Does anyone know what is causing this? I would like to know.
System specs:
amd athlon 1800+xp
256 sdram
Gforce4 mx440 64mb (with latest driver)
sb audigy live

Two things, possibly, that you can check for....

See if you have the lates Direct X, (I think its DX9, now)
Also, (first), try turning off as many of the programs that are running in the background as you can. Screen Saver, Virus Scanner, Internet, whatever. Start FS, and go to your display sliders. Turn everything down to a little less than halfway, then load the game. See how the sim acts now, and then turn up the display sliders a little bit at a time until your satisfied. But, don't overtax your system.

Then go here and D/L the correct version and install it. But, be sure to read the directions first.

The very first thing I would suspect is you might have "fast write" enabled for your MOBO and graphics card. If so, disable it!
