How do I stop this @%&% beeping?

Postby Wing Nut » Fri Jul 11, 2003 10:15 pm

I am flying out of Palwaukee in the Chicago are, using ATIS all the way and it's working pretty darn good too!  Right down to the point of them telling me sarcastically there's a Piper on the runway so I can't have clearance :D  I cleared Palwaukee, started to transition through O'Hare ( I got clearance) and I start getting this beeping that sounds like Morse Code in the cockpit.  Anyone know what this is and what I'm not doing right?

BTW,  on behalf of all the people who will be cleaning the seats in my Cessna tonight, I'd like thank the controllers at O'Hare for the near miss.  I was .2 of a mile above a 737 taking off.  If I hadn't 'stepped outside' for a moment I would have missed it.  They never even told me it was coming. >:(

One of your radio beepers (I don't know the technical term) is on.  The morse code identifief the source.  If one of your NAV, DME or ADF radio buttons is lit click on it to turn it off.  The radio will still be tuned.

Ok, but how am I supposed to find my VOR with the nav radio off?  Or did you mean that would still work too?  Same for the DME,  I would like to know how far it is to the target... ???

That beeping is the morse code identifier for the NDB.

Go to Settings in FS click on Sound find Navigation and set the slider at zero and you'll never be beeped again.

All your navaids can then be used-no noise!! :)
White on White fly all night.

Red on White you're alright.

Red on Red you'll soon be dead.

Hey Pirate.   U don't have to turn the nav sound down.  if you look at your radio stack there is a button or switch marked IDEN it is the freq identifier each nav freq transmit a morse code pattern called of course an identifier this is to let you know that yuo have the rite freq locked on.  If you look on the map for FS or fsnav or even on a sectional if you fly with them.  there is a line under the vor, ndb, ils, or comm freq that looks smething like this ..-.-..-.- . that is the beeeping there is an iden switch for each radio on the stack.

If you click on the buttons you won't turn the radios off, you will just turn the beeping off.
