SID'S, STAR'S and STD'S

Navigation thingies talk about SIDs and STARS.  What are these?  Please in any replies use words with one syllabul or less as I am quite stupid.

Attention Grabber........ha ha

SID's are Standard Instrument Departures. During IFR flights to make it as real as possible ( only on VATSIM or IVAO since FS ATC guides you like a puppet ) You follow the chart as to altitude and speed restrictions. Headings and VOR connections to the rest of your flight.

STAR's are Standard Instrument Arrival Routes right? Something like that. It might be Terminal. Anyways, that is used for landings. With no ATC online you
