What recommendation on getting traffic

Postby JOhn Elrod » Sat May 31, 2003 6:20 pm

OK since I was told questions aren't a bad thing I wanted to know if you guys could give me your thoughts on which add-on / payware / freeware is the best ofr adding traffic.  I was looking at "FS traffic 2002" but when I went to the forums it looked like a disaster.

I haven't been abel to find much else in the way of a traffic creator and I really want to have to work my way into O'Hare or Atlanta. it kinda kills the feeling to be 10 miles out at O'Hare and told your first in line to land.

Thanks: John

I use ProjectAI. It's excellent, easy to use, and it's free!

Yep - PAI is the way to go in my opinion. The only problem you'll have initially is finding your way around the site.

Head for the "Certified Resources" link. Everything youll need for the auto-install stuff is in there.

I'd recommend steering clear of the "old installer format" packages for now.

Thanks guys!!!  I downloaded all of the PAK files and man what a difference.  I'm still not getting crowded airports but there is more than enough activity to keep it interesting.

I just finished an ORD to CVG flight, and listening to the interaction with the centers and such and the other aircraft made a huge difference.  I arrived at CVG and was placed 4th in line to land behind a couple of Deltas and a United.  It was exactley what I had been looking for.  I had to watch speed and space myself and control the entire approach instead of just barelling in.  Then the Delta 737 in front of me was doddling getting off of the runway and I was about to call a missed approach when she hung a leftie and cleared the runway.

Thanks again guys, I'm on my way over now to donate what I was going to spend on FS traffic 2002.

ANy other little secrets like project 1 out there I should now about :).

Two more things you'll find useful now:

taxispeed.zip - Speeds up the taxi rate of AI traffic reducing the incidence of go-arounds now you have more traffic.

AFCAD 1.4 - This is a muti-function tool, but it's primary purpose in relation to AI traffic is to allow you to increase the number of parking spots (gates) for AI traffic at any airport. One of the problems you'll encounter is that FS2002 wasn't designed for all this AI traffic. Consequently, although visually there might be 50 gates at an airport, only 8 or 9 may be set up to be useable by AI traffic. This results in a lot of AI aircraft not appearing, or disapearing on landing because they have no where to park.

It comes with excellent documentation on how to use it and you'll find dozens of AFCAD files in the file libraries already done by other people.

You guys are the best.  I have hardly slept since I got this sim and it's already grown into a monster hehehe.

Gonna take a nap here in the cockpit whil I haul the freight from CVG out to SFO for DHL.

Thanks on the 2 new files FPS.  I'm downloading them now.
