If you are into realism, I would get the following two addons:
1. FSNavigator (an incredible flight planner)
2. ActiveSky wxRE (realistic and actual weather that is dynamic, along with weather planning and replacements for the lame clouds, TStorms, etc. that shipped with FS)
Both are payware, but similar (but less rich) freeware options exist.
After that, I would get an airport scenery from SimFlyers and use it as your home airport. I start every flight out of Philly (KPHL) as I fly out of there frequently on commercial flights. The SimFlyers add-on for the airport adds gates, taxiway signs, fuel trucks, service vehicles buzzing around, and more.
Finally, FS Tipster (a frequent contributor here) has made a modified panel for the default Baron 58 that is fabulous. Once I installed it (and tweaked the default settings to make the flight dynamics more realistic using tips he provided), I won't fly any other plane.
opps, i guess I recommend 4 add-ons, not 2! P.S. FSPlanet is a no-no to mention around here--just ask FS Tipster why...
