...we guitar-type players are lucky in that we have "frets" to indicate the note intervals... :D...!

...how Violinists, Cellists, Double Bass players, etc, manage to calculate exactly whereabouts they are on the fretboard to obtain the note they require, is quite beyond my comprehension... :-[...!

....LOL...!

Paul... 8-)...!

I have two Violins, one of which I have fitted with frets....
.....it still doesn't help in playing the bleedin' thing.... :'(...!
LOL...!

P.S. Piano practice doesn't help "Drummers" very much... :'(...!

...LOL... ;D...!

Paul....

Paul, I am a "percussionist". I play timpani and marimba as well. I can read music quite well actually. ;)

Electric guitar and bass guitar. I suppose I can say I play acoustic guitar, but the stuff I play isn't predominantly acoustic.

Hello, Fly...

"Percussionists", I love...very clever musicians, with a natural sense of rhythm... ;)...!
Talking about reading music, you must use a different music "score" to play your "DRUM" percussion instruments...!
...I must browse the Internet for more information...;)...!

Fascinating...!!

Paul...I play everything, and anything...(except "Drums"!)... ;).... 8-)...!

P.S. I think our "Moderator", Dave, "Fly2e" is also a "Drummer"... :-*...!

Well, marimba, xylophone, bells, chimes, and glockenspiel is in treble clef.. timpani is in bass clef, as well as other non-keyboard percussion parts. I'm not sure why though. "Drum" music is just rhythm.

Hello Fly... ;)...!

When I mentioned "Music Score" for the Drums, I meant what on the score tells you which member of your Drum set you have to strike, and how, at a particular time...?
ie: Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Tom, Cymbals, Hi-Hat, Block....rim taps, rolls, crashes, etc...?
How are they illustrated on the Music Score...?

..know what I mean...?

It has to be a different method from other instruments..!

Paul... 8-)...!

I gotcha Paul. This is a scan of one of the songs I'm currently performing in the pit orchestra for our school's rendition of "Brigadoon".

It's different for most scores. In this case, it's written for the bass drum on the lower line, with the snare and cymbal up higher on the staff.

It's easier for you just to see it, I think. ;)

..by the way, one guy playing six instruments for this play is tough! Real tough! :'( ;D

Hello James...

That's it... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

Thanks for the scan of the music score.....that is exactly what I was thinking... 8-)...!

Synthesizer players in the '70's and '80's had to use a similar method to score their various "effects" whilst playing the keyboard... ;)...!

Cheers Mate....Have fun with the Play...;)...!
