Yelling "SHOTGUN" and running into the cockpit isn't the best idea :D.
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Rules of shotgun:

Driver can still deny the shotgun, or fire the shotgun passenger if they don't perform their duties  ;D
If the driver says 'reload', the first person to shout 'shotgun' wins.  :P

Maybe the Captain doesn't know the full technicalities  8-)

Interesting where the term "riding shotgun" came from.  It comes from the wonderful period in American history when stagecoach and mail drivers needed to guard the passengers and valuables from stage-robbers and aggressive indians.  The guy next to the driver carried a firearm, frequently a shotgun.
