Sometimes Texas worries me! Though, I can't get a grip on why that would be.      ;D

Okay let your fellow Texan explain it to you,...

Put the mail and the box and get the F**K out, and dont EVEN bother to sell us anything or we WILL shoot you and the knee cap. ;)

Don't f*ck with a Texan! ;D

;D ;D ;D

We still expect our mail delivered right to the front door. (At the moment anyway)

That's nice, but the problem with the mail slot is that someone can easily inject sleeping gas in there, and next thing you know you're on some wacky island you can't escape from. ;D

Just make your children wait at the road for the mail.  They have the time after all.

They're called letter boxes* & yes, most houses in the UK have one in the front door. The postie usually delivers on a bike or on foot. In remote areas they might have a small van.

*PS. It seems I'm out of date, They're now called letter plates. http://www.bennettsironmongery.co.uk/mailbox-solutions/letter-plates/

What if you're not delivering a letter?  ;)

Letter box, post box, hole in door, trappy metal thing, etc. All pretty much the same thing. Yes technically the big red box is the post box, but I think we know what's meant.

[color=#003300]Many apartment complexes over here have the same setup as the postal boxes (for those renting boxes at their local post office) downstairs: keyed wall boxes. In-town homes along the sidewalk, most often serviced by the mailperson on foot, usually have door slots. Rural homes have the mailboxes, saving the postman/woman the half-mile trip up the hill (see, there is a reason it's called a driveway*) to the home, thus saving the government time and fuel (how's that for a rarity); if you're overly concerned about your mail being stolen from the mailbox, you can always make the ten-or-so-mile journey to your aforementioned rented postal box at the post office.
