26 June 1988; Air France A320; near Mulhouse-Habsheim Airport, France: The aircraft crashed into trees during an air show maneuver when the aircraft failed to gain height during a low pass with the gear extended. Three of the 136 passengers were killed.

why doesn't anyone listen to me ::)
you dont send airliners into the air with no-one on board. Something goes wrong with its systems and you have an unmanned missile.

So is everybody sure that we're talking about the crash IN THE VIDEO here?

I also think it's a bit strange to do fly-by's at an airshow with 130 passengers on board... though I'm not questioning it actually hapened. I just think it's irresponsible.

Yes its the same one. And no, passenger flights doing airshow fly bys are not un-common. We used to get a United flight from America doing a fly by at Middle wallops airshow. Several other airlines do the same at airshows, sporting events or Public relations events.

yes... but what about fly-by's WITH passengers? And how do you know for sure that the video displays the crash we're talking about?

I posted my reply before seeing Craig's. I'm positive it's the same incident as I remember seeing it on TV at the time it happened. The A320 was very new at the time & there was some doubt over the new fly-by-wire system. The pilot took the blame but he always protested there was a cover-up.

yes, passenger flights. Thus flights with passengers. I saw a couple of them myself, hence living on said Army base during some 8 years worth of airshows. I know its this crash as I have been over it before. Plus look at Doug's quoted article. Then watch the video, Trust me its the same crash.
