The Times is one of the most conservative (not in the sense of the political meaning) papers of them all along with the Independant and Telegraph. One would think something better from there. ::)

Why would you think a conservative newspaper any better or worse than others? The Times was always regarded as one of the more 'respecatable' broadsheets compared with common tabloids like the Sun. I haven't actually read it for years but believe the Times still has a decent crossword. ;)

PS. I believe the Times & the Sun are both owned by the same man, Rupert Murdoch. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2162658.stm

Not sure I get you, I used the word conservative because it is how I would term a "better paper".

Conservative = more truthful/better NOT the opposition. ;)

I think the tabloids like the Sun are just gossip spreaders, exagerating, are extreme and often end up in trouble. I think they are rather simple and basic and not worth the read. ::)

But 1/3 of all paper sales :o are the Sun, but I reckon that is because it is only 15p and full of women more than anything else. ;)

I think that's a liittle elitist. I know people who read several papers to get a balanced view. When it comes down to it all newspapers are much the same & have some sort of bias. They reflect the views of the editor who is appointed by the owner. About the only thing you can believe is the date on the front page & they have been known to get that wrong. ;)

lol, well you have the experience of life, but I trust one paper over another even if you feel they are all more or less the same.
I quite agree though - all writers have a bias and no-one is neutral.

Quite ironic when the conservatives are the opposition. ;D

I think the general consensus is that the Times is the more tabloid like of the Broadsheets. Not that there are any broadsheets any more as they've all adopted a tabloid format now. Easier for commuters or something...

My uncle whos doing the politics bit again, but also because the work he does usually involves PR, buys all the main papers on weekends to get a balanced view. No one paper today is neutral especially one owned by Murdoch. I dont really know where you will find a neutral report these days, the main differance is, the broadsheets tend to be more professional in the stories they carry and how they are written.

Indeed & it's been suggested that he is more powerful than any Prime Minister. Without his support by changing the political bias of the Sun, this country's most popular newspaper, it's quite possible that we would now have a different government. Politicians underestimate the power of the Press at their peril.

This is the sheer scale of Rupert Murdoch's global News Corporation. http://www.woopidoo.com/biography/rupert-news-corporation.htm
