I have to say working in a bar is great fun, I still help out at my friends pub on the weekend. It is a good way to meet people (especially girls, of course I'm married nowadays) and the extra cash never hurts.
No matter where you are in the world there'll always be somewhere that needs a pint-puller (with the exception of certain countries on religious/political grounds) ;)
I've never not been able to get some pub work... and if you can do a bit of the Tom Cruise Cocktail stuff the ladies will luuuuuuurv you 8-) 8-) 8-)
Almost forgot, this place is REALLY good for cocktails http://www.cocktailmaking.co.uk/

Looks like they want you to cover someone's shift ........... more than likely unpaid....... so decide if it's worth the effort to maybe get a no thanks at the end of it all.

I was interviewed for a job over the phone for a chief stage tech job at Butlins. The interview took over an hour and at the end I was told I was sucessfull pending a trial and was I available the following weekend to spend 3 days fitting up the theatre at Butlins Ayr UNPAID? .... At that  I pointed out that they had seen my CV and the ammount of experience I had .....  and that they had had references from some of the top people in Scottish Theatre and that the job barely warranted one day's fit up, having spoken to someone who had worked there before. I sort of blew it by saying that I would send them my standard contract for fitups... because as a freelance Technician with rather more experience than was required  for the job I only did charity gigs for nothing and that a minimum of

1500 people applied (and then they took the advert down)
70 people were in the group today, and the rest are being interviewed this week.
They're letting me know on Wednesday if I have it.

I think I was the nicest dressed there (and used as an example of how they expect their staff to be dressed for work)

We had team building exercises that included making a christmas toy for a child and building two towers - One of paper, one of spaghetti and marshmallows.

After 2 hours of that we had a Q&A session for a while with an absolute legend called Fabio. He said that waiters could expect to earn between

Sounds like a good day ;)

My actual one-on-one interview at Cessna was odd.  After going through the standard background questions, my interviewer said he liked my resume and what he'd heard so he was going to tell the company to make me an offer.  Then he asked me how I would react if I was given a bracket on day one and told 'This is your bracket.  You will work on this bracket for the next two years'.  I replied saying I wouldn't be happy, but I'd do it and do it well so I could get out of it sooner and do something I want.  He liked that answer, and ultimately I got put exactly where I wanted right off the bat.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Way too much hoop jumping to be a waiter or bar staff. I would not have stayed long enough to even find out they dad rejected me..............

Sounds like a pretty good job, good luck!  ;) The weirdest interview I had was for a furniture stripper. (Paint and varnish removal) I worked one day and all day I kept wondering why the hell I had to interview for a dirty job like this. I mean no one else was lining up for a shot at the job..

Well hopefully I find out any time between 7 hours later and 19 hours later.

I am optimistic, but it is a huge opportunity for all of us.

Well I didn't get the job, but I am following up their response and I will keep trying if something else should come up.

I should really cancel the initial payment on that new Audi A1  ::) ;D ;)
