Made it across the lake and all the way up the loooong hill with but a sprinkling; wrapped my raincoat over the seat.
The rain was coming down much harder when I came back out. Put on the raincoat and filled my backpack with my food supplies; put on the backpack, mounted the bicycle, turned on its lamps and took off into the wild wet gray (good thing I'm not in the U.K. -- the poor "e" is overworked). Now, the faster one pedals in the rain, the greater is the facial power wash. The raincoat kept my torso dry but dripped more water onto my pants which were benig smacked into the rain along with my shoes...
Mr. Fosbery, my legs and feet got soaked! :'(
Anyway, although it may not compare to yours, I just made myself some hot chicken vegetable soup (chicken, peas, corn, minced carrot and onion; seasoned with spices, including black and cayenne pepper) which I'm having with some vegetable crackers (a bit salty but OK). Actually, it's more like a stew; I don't like it sloppy so I thicken it with instant potato (I have it specifically for this purpose when I want something quick -- don't like corn starch).
As to your 'English' mustard. There was a time I used get canned ground mustard and just added water; canned mustard is a bit expensive now. Mentioning the designation 'English', this post and somebody's response to my original BoB posts brings it to mind: I don't remember who or when for sure, but someone mentioned that English muffins weren't English. Actually they did originate with the English, except that the English who first made them weren't in England -- they were English colonists who, often, had pans but no oven. Just thought I'd throw that in while I thought of it.8-)
..a wonderful read, H.... :)...!
I really do sympathise with your enforced predicament, and although I could prepare a tasty meal for you, unfortunately, I have no control whatsoever over your local weather conditions.... :'(...!
A nice, heart-warming Soup seemed to be the correct method of sustenance under the conditions that you experienced that day!... :)..!
Muffins:
Sometimes, over here, there can be some confusion between Muffins and Crumpets!...>>>
