Road trip

So, how far do you have to drive before it is considered to have become a "road trip"? I drive 1400km one way to go on holiday here in Europe and generally, when State side on holiday around 1000km from airport to destination?

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Travelling to a holiday location or a 2nd home isn't a Road Trip!! It just means you have to get somewhere and thus it's just plain travelling.. Going somewhere just for the sake of it and crossing borders/state lines qualifies as a road trip! In Example driving from Holland ( Coast) To Milan and back just for the sake of getting lottery tickets! ( Milan was really nice for the entire 2 hours...)

I heard someone say here that they drove huge distances just to get Pizza.... now that is a roadtrip! ( or a very remote area)

I think a road trip is when you don't have a timeline or a plan. Or a known destination. In the late 80's I set out in a customized van and headed south intending to drive untill I could take my shirt off. (Warmth) I ended up gone for six weeks. I visited New Orleans during Mardi Gras and headed west along the southwestern coast of US. Saw the Alimo, Grand canyon, and tons of other attractions as I headed north up the west coast and back towards the east after I hit Seattle. 8000+ miles. I'll never be able to do that again.. but I am glad, at least, I did it once.  ;)

Technically, it can be called a road trip if you ride for any distance on road(s) but, more specifically, an unplanned trip of some distance; the ride to out of town team games are also called road trips.
