I came on the scene in 1950.... ;)

My mom got married when she was 15, had me when she was 16. My maternal grandmother was born in 1911, my maternal grandfather was born in 1907.

Not quite... it seems he missed the flight. Although he gave the pretense of washing his hands on the matter, the case against him was appealed.

and i remember the family sitting around the radio in the evening....there was a sense of each other, of communication, even if it was partly unconscious...there was kind of a warm feeling then....all that went with tv...

Not entirely... I spent a lot of time in front of the "idiot box" in my childhood, but a lot of it was quality family time in front of the "idiot box".

That reminds me of being so little I was bewildered by much of what we chanted in school, church, etc..."'My country tizovee?' what the heck is a 'tizovee'?"...
To this day, I can't hear the Catholic Apostle's Creed without picturing, when I hear that part, Jesus going down in a flaming WWII fighter a la John Wayne... 
My young mind used to wander quite a bit in church...

[color=#000000]I too remember some quality family time in front of the TV, especially Sunday afternoons watching WWII movies with my Dad. My Mom and I were talking just the other day about all the high quality shows we used to watch, like Dean Martin. You never knew who was going to be on or what they were going to do. It was always hilarious when Sammy Davis Jr. or Johnathan Winters got Dean tickled when he was supposed to be keeping a straight face. Good memories.
