Technically not a veteran as he never made it into battle, but Canada's last link with a generation has passed (heaven knows he tried hard enough to get into combat)!

R.I.P Mister Babcock.
A veteran to most Canadians is anyone who has served a term in the military. A combat veteran is another story.

Though never hand to hand, I fought in the cold war for four years with the USAF - have the good conduct medal to prove it.
