That is amazing 727! Ever thought of using projectors for the outside view?
I'm more into small planes, and I've often thought of buying a scrap C172 or 152 fuselage and converting it into a sim. a projector or REALLY big monitor would be a must have for me.
Projectors are not an option. It's built right up in front of a wall that is about 2' in front of the windscreen.
The view out the windows is actually much smaller from a narrowbody Boeing than most people realize. The view is pretty good out the side windows, but the forward windows are very low and the visibility is only fair out the front. The monitors fill the forward view at life-size images.
Forward visibility in a Cessna is actually much better than in a Boeing.
Starting from the left and going clockwise, the right monitor is a 32" HDTV, then a 22" for LF view, 24" straight out the front, then a 19" WS for the RF view because I couldn't get anything bigger on the glareshield, and then another 22" out the right side.
It's adequate but it required a lot of manipulation of the views within the config file so everything would line up with the different sized monitors. The view is as true to real size as it can be.
You should be along sometime when pulling up to the stand. The jetway is huge out the left side.
