Amateur Radio Anyone?

Postby BFMF » Thu Feb 11, 2010 9:52 pm

I took and passed the Amateur Radio - Technician exam tonight. They gave me the option to try to test the General exam also, but I hadn't studied for it. I tried anyway but was a few answers shy of passing. Oh well...

I never really thought about it untill one of my instructors offered to give us a quick class. We're already familiar with a lot of the electronic theory, so it didn't take much.

Right on. I think i'm just just going to stick with the technician license for now. All I want is a triband handheld now, so there really isn't a point to test for General untill I want to get into more expensive, powerfull transciever equipment

i have a 70cm Handheld radio, i believe 410.000-430.000 MHz, although I do not have any kind of license to operate it (dont need one to listen, just need one to transmit)

but I do have CB in the car, but then again anyone can have those.

Have been a ham for 51 years, K0HZI. Has been a great hobby that eventually led to two careers, one as a dispatcher for the state highway patrol for fifteen years and electronics technician the remainder of my working years. I get on almost every day on twenty meter PSK31 (14.071) sound card chat program over the air.
