No, not yet.

The reasoning behind the Florida location is that it doesn't go over land when it launches (since they always launch east due to the rotation of Earth). Spent boosters and stages fall into the ocean harmlessly, and if something goes wrong (big boom) it is not over a populated area.

Also, you want these things to go off as close to the equator as possible.

Unpopulated ocean plus as far south as you can realistically get in the US = Cape Canaveral.

At NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, space shuttle Endeavour is being prepped for a new opportunity to launch on its STS-127 mission. Liftoff is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:03 p.m. EDT.

With a 60 percent chance of favorable weather, Wednesday's launch outlook is an improvement over the previous two attempts. Tries on Sunday and Monday both were thwarted when bad weather approached the launch area, violating stringent launch safety rules.

The Mission Management Team will meet Wednesday at 8 a.m. to give a "go" for fueling of Endeavour's external fuel tank. With the managers' approval, fueling operations will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Liftoff of Space Shuttle Endeavour!
Wed, 15 Jul 2009 06:03:21 PM EDT

Space shuttle Endeavour and a crew of seven astronauts are rocketing into orbit, beginning a two-day pursuit of the International Space Station. Endeavour's two solid rocket boosters ignited right on schedule at 6:03 p.m. EDT, sending the shuttle soaring past the launch tower at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The boosters burn out about two minutes into the climb, leaving Endeavour's trio of main engines to complete the ascent to orbit. Stand by for main engine cutoff, expected about eight-and-a-half minutes into flight.
