Air displays enty fee

After working out what a days visit to Kembel air display would have cost me, what is the average entry fee in your part of the world. The last displays in the UK that I went to, Bigginhill and Duxford, they both cost

I've never had to pay for an airshow in the US. Never even occurred to me that in the UK there would be a fee.  :-? Learn something new every day I suppose!

At one airshow I went to in the US (that will remain nameless) there was a $7 parking fee. Well I didn't know so I pulled in and by the time I saw a sign it was too late to get out. So I explained the situation to the attendant and he told me to pull in and turn around, however, while looking for a place to turn around another guy waved me into a parking spot... well I didn't look back  8-)  Went in, enjoyed the show and prayed they didn't tow my car  ;D Which they didn't!  :P

Some of my Family, Mum, Dad, and two Children pulled up at a Kemble Air Show a few years ago...

...on arrival, saw the cost of entry for them all... ...

...turned around, and went straight back home again...!

Never been there again since...

I have been to some that were free, and some that we had to pay to get in.  At our airport, they discovered we make more money not charging to get in.  That many more people come in, then buy a $3.00 hot dog.

A free airshow is a beautiful thing, but I've never minded paying. What I do mind is being stuck on line for 45 minutes for a $5 cup of lemonade, because you can't bring a cooler with you.  >:(

Oshkosh is 36 bucks a day, but most are free.

Well, in the US, our armed forces host many of the airshows.

Air shows = big recruiting event, so they keep it free so more people can see it.




Besides, we pay for them to fly, anyway.  ;D (I don't for a few more years, though.  ;))

WWII Weekend in Pennsylvania was either $20 or $22 depending on if you pre-ordered or not. Programs were $5, and I did not bother with the food or drink venues but the prices were probably in the $3 to $10 range.

I've got to be honest I think OW is a little pricey. I love the venue and the display, but when its the same price as a major one like Cosford, it's a little much.

It is - but that's the price you pay for a small venue which on a full day holds 5000 or so, compared to Duxford or Cosford's 35-50000. Yes they make a saving from having so many home based aircraft, but the outsiders still cost the same, as do many of the overheads.
