You wonder about people sometimes, how they think, what motivates them. I don't think we are in decline as a society as some would have us believe.

A combination of things like increased population, more reporting and more record keeping seems to point to a percentage decrease in offences in respect to that population increase(if I really have to go looking I will).

I am in a position at the moment to observe humanity in various forms fairly closely. I work in a Pub.

And one thing that comes to mind that applies over all my experience with customers is that this would be a great job if we didn't have them!

And it doesn't matter where you go you will see the same families presenting the same problems one generation to the next.

When everyone else is throwing their hands and saying what can we do? I laugh and say,

Not much. You're dealing with human beings.

fortunately most or all Pizza joints have adopted a policy that their delivery drivers only carry about $20.00 in change. so if you want to rob one for money alone your probably only going to get away with $20.00

Also i have noticed a great deal of places which will only take a credit card by phone if your pizza order exceeds a certain dollar amount.

I think the pizza places might need to switch to caller ID and call back to confirm orders. Delivery guys could approach the address with a rubber pizza or a pizza covered with alum, then when someone answers the door and pays they get the real one out of the car. 8-)

Shocking. And worrying. A few years ago i worked for a delivery company, we deliverd fresh and frozen  produce to homes all over the uk. We would have an area of say 50-100 deliverys to do each day.

The customers were cold called and once they had an order, were then rang up every 4-6 weeks for the next one and so on.

Problem was, we often worked alone, delivery times went from when we arrived in the area (somtimes 12pm, other times 2-3pm depending on the distance from base) and worked through till ocasionly 9-10pm at nite. And most orders were paid with cash.

Orders were rarely below

Yeah but you might want to be aware of some of the delivery people. This might just be the Bay Area where I live (near san fransico), my friends brother was a delivery man (he dint do anything when he got out of high school so this was his first job then) and someone called his manager or they made him return the pizza so it was bad. Well he got mad and spit in the pizza and cussed at the person who bought the pizza.
They found out he spit in it and was fired. So be aware when you have a grumpy/mean delivery man and you get a bad pizza and want to return it.

the pizza man is a highly honored, well respected, well tipped individual in my home. He is doing male society a great service.

the pizza man is second only to the beer man or bar tender... who are both hands down probably the two most important figures in male society besides a soldier, or maybe chuck norris.

if it were up to me... entire golden shrines would be built in their honor.

and yes,  im dead serious.

Speaking of people that make me sick...

Last week, my AFROTC detachment held a retreat in honor of 9/11. During the retreat, the national anthem is played, and the flag is lowered.

It's probably a good thing that our cadre weren't armed or we might have been "missing" a few students that don't seem to grasp the concept that when the national anthem is being played, or when the flag is moving, YOU DONT KEEP WALKING. >:(

Also, Rosanne Barr's rendition of the national anthem... that woman should be shot.

Weird, usually the National Anthem would be played while the Stars and Stripes are raised, not lowered.
