Oh dear. My whole school is going rampant.

"THE WORLD IS GOING TO END ON WEDNESDAY!"

"IT'S A 15 TO 1 CHANCE OF IT GOING WRONG"

"WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE" (Tsch. Looks like we have Captain Obvious in our year set)

Ohwell. Our physics teacher is so going to get mauled about the LHC tomorow. I will try and have a slightly educated talk with him about the matter.

If the world is going to end tomorrow, then I'm not going to bother paying my bills this month. Might as well keep my money, you get to take it with you, right? In any case I've bought a one way ticket to Zurich for my boss, just in case it's a really small black hole that only sucks up Switzerland. And if nothing happens at all, well... he's stranded in Switzerland, and I don't have a job.

Seriously though, I'm really not worried about it... ;)

Jesus. Maybe I won't have to go to work on Wednesday then. In fact, I'm going to call my congressman and tell him to institute September 10th as "National Black Hole Day". Hurrah!

In any case, if the world does implode on itself, that'd be a bummer.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I'm curious... how exactly is a lawsuit in the Hawaiian District Court going to stop someone from running an experiment in Europe?

It seems that Europe is just a little bit out of their jurisdiction, even if it did get sent up to the Supreme Court...

The project has attracted researchers of 80 nationalities, some 1,200 of them from the United States, which contributed $531 million of the project's price tag of nearly $4 billion.

As my teacher so put it:

"It will be as powerful as if two mosquitos hit into each other. I am sure that if a mosquito splatted into your head you wouldn't just suddenly turn into a black hole and collapse in on yourself"

I do want to know what will get created though. It seems like such a childlike method... just smash some things into each other and see what happens, though of course this is a much more massive project with much smaller colliders.

With the tendency to swipe at a mosquito, it depends upon what you're holding in your hand. If an ax or a sledge hammer... :o

the bugs would take an "Eternity" compare to a tiny fraction of a second and a trillion times smaller, the size of a proton and anti protons..

and If the "Human Rights" are protesting for this, they shouldn't even exist for Ignorants and stupids ,with I strongly doubt ..

,Out of subject;

what I spec ,its the publish the result of this very soon ,and not to wait  a year to read it in a magazine in 2 years ..

Regardless of the nationalities of the scientists and/or sponsors the actual event is taking place outside the jurisdiction of any US court. Hence, the court can rule however they want, but they can't enforce the ruling.

This lawsuit is like Philadelphia passing a law saying that skateboards are illegal in New York... makes no sense and is completely unenforceable.
