Is anybody really surprised ?

Microsoft hasn't started a single business day for the last 26 years where things like this haven't been announced.

XP was declared DOA and Microsoft was gonna go bankrupt because of all the holes in it.. Same with ME, 98SE, 98, 95 and 3.1

I'm not really surprised about this. In fact, I was kind of expecting it to happen considering that there is no operating system in the world that is 100% effective against viruses, hackers, etc. Heck, even Apple's latest OS is not bullet proof. The only reason we don't hear much about its flaws is because the company is doing a dang good job covering it up. And that's one thing I like about Microsoft. Unlike Apple, Microsoft admits that its system is not bullet proof.

Or..  as a percentage of computers in use; there are too few Macs to make it worth the hackers effort   ;)

Actually Mac users suffered their first 'attack' earlier this year. Which did rather stop them being so smug ;D

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

MS knew they'd be loads of folks waiting to find holes and so did everyone else. It's hardly major news. The computer freaks will be racing to see who can find and exploit the first hole. Seeing as the complete version of windows vista is available on the internet in the piracy places I wouldn't be surprised if the viruses are released to conicide with the day Vista is released. ::)
