Ta for the link, Craig...!
I heard a snippet on the radio news tonight, but it didn't say what he died from....(Pneumonia following heart surgery)...?

Do you remember the comical program with part of the animated character on the audience screen....doing something rather naughty... ;)... ;)... ;)... ;D...!
LOL...!

Cheers Mate...!

...mmm...Very sad.......I think it was heart surgery following pneumonia Fozz strangely enough. He was slowly recovering from  pneumonia  and had some infection around his heart which needed surgery a couple of days ago..........things went badly wrong last night and we lost one of our best loved broadcasters........commoner :(

...fond memories included for me his "fight" with a ferret on TV........so funny that.

My heart just fell when I heard late last night he had died - and I couldn't stop crying!  :'(

I LOVE Countdown - it will surely never EVER be the same without him.  :(

Yes is very sad.

Richard is well known for going to Giggleswick School in Yorkshire, I didn't go there my self but most of my good friends did, in fact an ex-girlfriends father used to share a dorm with him!

A very generous, cheerful man that will be sadly missed on and off our TV screens.

The question would have to now be. Do they continue with the show? Its ratings are not great, and without Richard Whiteley will Carol Vordeman continue to present on the show?

I doubt they will continue, Richard + Carol were the team that made it. It would be Oliver without Hardy, Morecambe without Wise, you get my drift.
