How do they get caught...

Postby Jimbo » Mon Mar 14, 2005 12:11 pm

I have seen many people on the news who have been fined thousands for illegal downloading. This has been occured in the uk. One thing that does startle me is how such users are caught. Are they tracked? have people reported them. Also many of the users fined are uploaders of illegal content, does this affect the normal downloading>?

Im just curious, i have many friends who are the same, its just something which has made me think....
Im trying to educate people to stay away from file sharing, as its just all bad.

(i know there was a previous descusion on this, but im not trying to cause a major brawl! LOL ;D)

Well thanks anyway,

Jimbo

The companies place files onto these programs which contain a smale tracking file, when its downloaded it tracks your usage of the P2P program. If you download and then share a file it logs that and if you do it alot, they get ya.

By Law, the music companies are now able to obtain your E-Mail address, from your Service Provider, and therefore track you down...!

The file is in the music you download, not the program itself. File sharing progams are not illeagal downloading copywrited song is.

Now remember that bittorent is a successful way of transferring large amounts of adat without using as much bandwidth from the main site..;-) Yes it can be used for illegal stuff, but you can also get open source material from these sites, much the same as coming here for freeware aircraft...etc....
