well talked to friend...he got on the computer it was deleted on...still in the recycle bin but aparently Zip disks once something is deleted from them there is no bringing it back :-/

But its not just me who has had this problem with him...I'm just the one who stood up to him...And its one of those things...he also said later in the year not to do political items...well there has been plenty of Osama and Bush edits around and he has yet to say anything to the people who do them >:(  Sure i might have broke the no religion rule but its not like i meant to.  And as long as i was not going to do anymore on it in class then it should have just been dropped right there.  But at least i only have to put up with this teacher till May.  Next year im switching to Building Trades insted...he knows this and when it comes time for the 05-06 yearbook pictures he better not bother to ask me to take shots of the job site for him :P

At least i got some extra sleep today...kind of needed it ::)  I still go to my home school classes in the afternoon but im suspened from the vocational school till friday.

All I can say is no matter what his views, or what you said to him, he should not have deleted something from your personal disk.

Thought police springs to mind. I'm not sure what happened to freedom of expression but your better off suspended.  Remember no-one can tell you how to think and create as much fuss about this as you can at school.

I think the teacher made the conditions so as not to cause the issue of religion and its implications to come up....

..mm....and  banning the subject made sure it DID come up....I'm still withTriple _7..commoner ;)

I thought that the pledge of alligeance was banned in public schools in the US for that reason.

The UNDER GOD in the American pledge of alligeance was added in the 1950's I think. It was a bid to weed out Communists.

There is a story as to the In God We Trust being on the money but i cant remember it...It was studied in my 6th grade history class....I've slept sence then :P

I remember reciting the pledge every day back in elementary up untill the end.  But that was back before every little thing was turned into a major isue of rights ::)

Today i had a good day.  Even with my suspention i went on an all day field trip to a movie...Hotel Rwanda...Then afterwards we were able to hang around the mall the theater is located in for an hour.

One plus side to the vocational school and my home school being seperate...They really have no controll over each other:P

I spoke with someone about this the other day and they said they had heard about it in a history class as well-at about that same age (I never did).  He said he was taught that it was added to money when the United States went off the gold standard and went to an economy standard-because they value of the money was now in God's hands instead of gold.  I'm not sure if that is what you learned (he said this was in his history book) but that is not correct.  It was on American money well before that.

The only reason I mention that is because your comment brought that to mind-I thought it was interesting what he had been taught.

I believe that for a while they had removed it-or at least didn't force everyone to recite it.  I remember that some athiest went clear to the Supreme Court because they didn't want their child being fored to reciet something that said "Under God" in it.  Maybe they have since repealed it-or maybe it was conditional I don't know.  But, I remember it was in the new for quite some time.

I found this site which should clear this up. http://humaniststudies.org/pledge.html
I'm surprised that even Americans (by Americans I mean US citizens) don't seem to know what it's all about. I realise the site is biased & I'm not trying to start a political discussion, merely clarifying the facts. I have no feelings on the subject either way & have no wish to influence anyone.

The UK national anthem is "God Save the King/Queen" which is also included in the first line. This is played & sung at official & sporting events all over the world. Not everyone in the UK recognises God or the Queen but I haven't seen any complaints about it.

PS. When I was at school we had to stand to attention & sing the national anthem every day during morning assembly. I'm sure this is no longer the case. It was also played at the end of every performance in theatres, cinemas & dance halls all over the country. People used to rush out early to avoid having to wait & stand to attention while it was played even in those days. They would be wasting their time doing this now.

Its a wonder why history is such a main subject in school.  There is several required history classes.  And you begin to wonder about some of the books after awhile....I am currently in a US history class.  Our books are only 2 years old and contain a couple chapters about 9-11.  To me at least it doesnt seem to match what i remember.  I was sitting in my morning science class watching it happen and saw the second aircraft hit.  As well as the few weeks after it.  The book seems to be quite a bit off on what i watched.  To many differences.  Even our history teacher is against the book sometimes "history is more peoples views then anything, you only get what others saw it as and not the whole picture."  Just a thought to throw out there :-/
