Fed up with my neighbors.

Postby KnightStryker » Sat May 15, 2004 3:54 pm

I moved into this house in Feb. of 2003.
I own a PT cruiser, a month after moving in my neighbors went out and bought a PT cruiser.
in may, I bought new patio furniture.
Two weeks later my neighbor bought new patio furniture.
In August I got my wife a dog.
Two weeks later my neighbor bought a new dog.
(Does anyone see a pattern forming here?)
In September I replaced my Garage door.
Three days later my neighbor replaced his garage door.
Two months ago I put in new front and back doors.
A week later my neighbor put in new doors.
Three weeks ago I had a new roof put on the house.
Last week my neighbor had a new roof put on his house.
I am really fed up with this jerk.
Anybody got a helicopter I could borrow for a couple of weeks? Really I need something really expensive to put in my back yard just so this guy will go out and buy the same thing and maybe at some point he will go broke and I can laugh at him.

Sorry, just need to vent.

You may seriously want to consider a restraining order.

Maybe its coincidence. Paint your house in red and green checks and see if he follows suit. ;D

You seriously could have some fun with this guy. Start small, like a tribe of garden gnomes, then, when he gets some, say that you were copying him. Then get a nice cheribin statue/waterfeature, wait for him to get one etc. ;D

The ultimate for this is to paint the house in some really lothesome colour.... but use paint that you know will wash off in the first heavy rainfall.... then see what he's left with  :o :P ;D

No way man....here's what I'd do.

Make a list of all the things you want done around your house.

For example, maybe you want the windows washed.

Then when he's not home, go over to his house and do a half a$$ job cleaning his windows.

Then maybe another half a$$ job washing his car.

Before you know it, you've got the car washed, the windows cleaned...and you only had to put in minimal effort.

Warning:  There is a chance he'd be on to you and half a$$ the tasks around your place.  I take no responsibility for that and won't provide the other half of an a$$.
Great edit, Bob.

This is a known psycological problem with some people. Copying everything you do is a form of flattery as they have no original ideas of their own. We used to call it "Keeping up with the Jones's". I'm sure it's annoying but it's their problem, not yours. I don't think there's much you can do about it, except move. Unless they move first of course. ::)

Your neighbours sound a lot like my Aunt and Uncle on my Dad's side KnightStryker. They have the exact same fridge, stove, microwave, and surround sound system we do. They only got them after they saw ours. They think we're rich and trendy for some reason.

The only problem with my neighbour is that he is "slightly" over weight and can't stand the heat. He must have his air conditioner set at 68F because it's on all the time in the summer and it isn't exactly whisper quiet either.

Here's some ideas:

1. Make him believe you that you sold your car (Actually, keep it at a friend's or relative's house) and either rent or borrow a really fancy sports car for a while. See what he does. wait untill he copies you, then you can return the car and get yours back

2. Rent or borrow a motor home. Wait untill he does the same, then return it

3. You could also do the same thing with Motorcycles, ATVs, fishing boats, riding lawn mowers

4. When you go on vacation, make him think you're on a cruise in the Caribean

6. Rent, borrow, or  do anything that you can either reverse or return after he copies, and have the last laugh.

Sigh....by doing things to HIS house, he'll return by doing things to YOUR house.  But you've got to be careful...if you do too much work over there, it will be counterproductive.  Too little, and he'll only do minor mods on your site.

Nevermind...either you get it or you don't. ;)

Just start doing really weird stuff that he won't dare copy, try and convince him that you're mental!
Get a load of friends over on motorbikes dressed-up as Hells Angels, or at midnight sit in the garden and howl at the moon or something. Just get him really good and scared of you ;D
