LOTR Extended Version DVDs

Does anyone have the Lord of the Rings extended edition DVDs?  Are they just the movie with lots of extra scenes added, or are the extra scenes incorporated into the movie?

My brother has them. I borrowed a copy of Fellowship from him before Christmas. It's on 4 discs ??? Sorry, but it's just too long. 3 hours was long enough without padding it out with stuff that really adds little to the story.
If you are a big rings fan, I'm sure these extra bits are worth while, but most folk will find the 3 hour version long enough I thing.

The extended versions are unlike any other DVD I have seen.  The scenes that were left out are full-fledged scenes (not just halfway done) and are seamlessly incorporated into the rest of the movie.  For those of us who enjoy the books to the point of being fanatics, the extended versions are really a good improvement.

I agree.  The extended editions are required viewing for LOTR.  The extras are pretty much everything they left out of the books and a bit extra.  The Two Towers was practically unwatchable until I got the Extended Edition.  Now I can even stand Sean Astin's speeches... ::)

The extended versions are worth every penny, the parts added to the movie fit in great

The fellowship DVD has about 30 minutes of extra fotage, and the Two Towers has about 40 minutes i think.

Plus both sets have two additional DVD's with doucumentaries that are about 3 hours long each, they are quit interesting.

The extended versions are unlike any other DVD I have seen.  The scenes that were left out are full-fledged scenes (not just halfway done) and are seamlessly incorporated into the rest of the movie.

the reason why they go together so well is that they recut the movie after the cinema release.  I mean they do everything recut the score, edit in the new clips it's like having an entirly new movie to produce in the time between the cinema realse and the special edition DVD's are realsed
