Presently I drive an AMD K6-II 450 with 320 megs of RAM and a 32 meg TNT card.....tons of free drive space too...surely there are some on here who don't make me feel inferior with this syster......Waddaya got ?

Compaq 3200 series - 766 Mhz PIII - 192 Mb RAM
Intergrated Intel 82810e Graphics card.
RAM cannot be increased as they don't make the strips for this anymore (If someone can explain this for me I'd be grateful). Something to do with old type and new type RAM strips (single and double sided?, maybe?)

The graphics are not suitable for CFS3, however I didn't find this out until I went to install (something that M$ forgat to tell us - CFS3 won't work on "shared memory" cards).

CFS2 will operate on the lower settings quite well, except for some downloaded missions which have heaps of activity. CFS1 & FS2000 are fine on top settings. Most of the time!!

There you go. I think yours is better than mine.  ;D ;D ;)

According to the recommended requirements on the CFS3 box, mine is well above the minimum (once again, of course, no mention of graphics being no good).  >:(

2Ghz Pentium 4 with 512mb ram, 40gb master and 10gb slave hdd, 64mb Kyro II graphics card. Eats the minimum CFS3 specs for brekfast, but won't run it at all :'(
Runs CFS2 like a dream, especially since I added an extra 256mb just before Christmas. :)
As soon as I have enough spare cash, I'm getting a G-Force 4. ;D

This could just be my complete computer illiteracy speaking, but I have CFS3 and have had CFS2 for 12 months, plus I've heard all the guff about the difficulties people are having, even with highend machines.

It seems to me, that with CFS2, apart from that extra bit of graphics quality that everyone seems to chase, the secret with CFS2, from a performance point of view is simply more RAM, the more the better.

My P.C is nowhere near highend but it's not crap either. The only questionable part of it is the Intel card and with more RAM I could handle any amount of activity on screen at high frame rates. I can get up to 60FPS in freeflight.  ;D ;D ;)

Whoops, this is really a Hardware comment, but then so is the topic, I suppose.

Hi brensec old pal! All M$ sims are a bit memory hungry. Since adding more ram, it just seams to run smoother.
I'm not a real expert on the subject (I built this PC though, with a lot of help and advice from a clever mate) but I often do little upgrades like adding a network card for my cable modem or adding ram and it is dead easy.

OK:

P4, 1.9Ghz.
GeForce 3 Ti200.
Some sort of sound card...
768Mb od RAM
45Gb HD with a 26Gb backup drive and a 4Gb recover drive.

RAM is the key.  I used to have 256Mb...FS2002 ran at a maximum of 15fps...now I sometimes see 50fps, full settings and the largest screen resolution with 16bit colour.

I'm not sure how much it will be, although it'll probably be quite expensive at first. Hopefully I'll be able to get atleast an AthlonXP 2200 this summer

Hey Woody,

How does your setup handle CFS3?

When you say "noisy" card, what exactly is noisy. Is it just the scratchy, clickering sound you get from the PCU when it's "working"? or something else.

P.S. With all the people on this and other threads that are updating whole systems or Graphics cards or processors, there should be alot of 2nd hand stuff around soon....................lol. But I'm in Aust.  >:(
