Vista Platform Update aka DX11

Postby mcjimmy1 » Wed Nov 04, 2009 2:51 pm

Hi all
Recently downlowned the Windows Vista platform update issued by Microsoft which installs DX11 and my FSX performace seems to have deteriorated. Could there possibly be an issue with the nvidia 185 graphics drivers and or the backwards compatability of DX11 with FSX? Has anyone else had a similar experience with this windows vista update ? Should I uninstall the platform update and reinstall DX9 or DX10?

Since FSX doesn't even fully support DX10, there's no reason why having DX11 installed should make any difference at all...

...in fact, unless you deliberately tell FSX to use the "DX10 Preview" mode, it will simply run DX9 as always.

Do right-click on your FSX Desktop Shortcut and make sure to put a check mark on these two options:

[] Disable desktop composition
[] Disable visual themes

Also, make certain that you check off the "Run in Administrator" mode.
