Samdim's addons

Postby RacingLad » Sun Dec 14, 2008 11:10 pm

While browsing through the web I stumbled upon Samdim's beautiful russian aircraft addons. They were designed for FS9 but I hear other people that swear that they can work perfectly with FSX.

Do you think it'll work?
I sthere any tweaking I need to do?

Never heard of them, but the only way to see if they work is to check them out yourself... ;)

I tried the An 24 and the Cap10. With FSX Acceleration some textures are invisible.

Panels are the main problem..
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur

If you convert the invisible textures to dds format, it works quite well.

How can this be accomplished?

You can google for "dds converter" - there are some programs.
But you have to be carful - convert the textures one by one and make a backup in advance. I am not sure if it works with all the textures. I had some problems with some textures.

Thank you Manuel, I will look into this. I have installed the Tu-114 in FSX Gold Edition (I am a Xmas newb). Most of it works except for the flight deck and passenger cabin textures. When vc is selected, the base textures appear for a moment then disapear. The panel instruments are visible and working. The control yoke is not visible but it works (it's transparent "shadow" blocks the instruments behind it).
In the passenger cabin, only the overhead storage netting is visible.
On the positive side, the aircraft is flyable and pilot visibility is outstanding.

Many thanks Manuel. The DXTBmp program solved the problem. The Tu-114 VC cabin texture files were opened, flipped vertically, and saved as DDS textures. The very extensive flight deck and passenger cabin are now visible! A minor problem remains in the transparency behind the overhead storage netting on the starboard side. I will keep working on it.

Samdim's Tu-114 is an impressive airplane that is fun to fly in FSX.
