Upgrade other computer for fsx or buy fs2004?

There really is no upgrading a computer for FSX.

I can't imagine a scenario where someone would have CPU capable of running FSX and not already have the RAM and video-card too.

32 GB of RAM, and a $1000 video card aren't going to do you any good, if they're not teamed up with a quad-core CPU running at well over 3Ghz.

I spent almost $2,000 for an "OK" i7 system...

let me tell you something. if you go with FS2004, you can get it to look better than you ever though possible with the right addons. there are plenty of people here willing to help you with setting up your FS2004 sim and to give you advice on which addons to install and how to set them up. honestly, if you don't have close to $2,000 to spend for a good i7 system, I would just stay with FS2004. but ultimately it's up to you

i have both,.fsx and fs2004 but after 8 months of aggrevation with freezing and lagging with fsx i just went ahead and purchase fs2004
to give it a try and guess what?..fsx is creating dust..
im really happy with fs2004,better frs,no lagging,the graphic are pretty good,..
fsx will be uninstall soon of my computer to be honest because i'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars upgrading a computer just to 'please' fsx

Well im sure FS2004 will be a blast I just hoping I can get good graphics.

It seems like everyone here is big on FS2004 over FSX so I think im going to make a switch but ill still be flying both probally more fs2004 once I get all my downloads and scenery and controls set up for it. 8-)

Look at it this way, I have the system to run either FSX or FS9 very well.  I have spent the money to get FSX Deluxe, and then Acceleration.  What do I play the most...FS9.  I have grown so attached to the way FS9 works that I just can't adjust to FSX, and have come to accept that I won't.  Every know and then I fire up FSX, but within a few minutes I'm back to FS9.
