Tell me if you can spot a problem here

Postby ptrkrsh » Mon Jan 26, 2009 3:47 pm

Ok these shots are taken directly above Honolulu Intl airport (PHNL) facing south, can you spot the problem in these shots? And if you can for the love of god can you tell me how to fix it. I fly here all the time and the whole experience has been ruined. Somebody PLEASE this is killing me!!!

And yes the entire ocean has turned into a lightly wooded prairie. It is not just a local phenomenon.

If I remember right, this is an issue caused by some payware addon for ground textures or landclass, something very popular... maybe UTX or Ground environment... sorry I don't remember for sure...
Are you using some payware addon like that ?

Check your Scenery Library. I had the same problem (on the continent) after installing UTX. Several of the UT library entries were disabled. Enabled them and all was right with the world.

The UTX-created scenery.cfg has additional entries that are removed when overwritten by installing (or modifying) some other scenery programs. Simply re-running the Setup application from the desktop icon for UTX will restore the needed entries during the validation process it automatically undertakes. If that applies to your setup, ptrkrsh, then the solution should work. You can, if you want, research this at great length on the UT forum, or you can just do it. No harm will result.

Edit: Need to correct a factual error. The file in question is actually terrain.cfg, not scenery.cfg, but the method of repairing the damage is unchanged It comes up nearly every week on the Ultimate Terrain forum.  -D

Yes I have GEXn and UTX, after reading your posts I went into UTX and used the quick enable/disable feature then went into GEX and had it reinstall all its textures, Worked like a charm. Thanks for the input folks, I can fly in my favorite skies again!!

Have you added any large scenery or mesh packages lately?

I don't have a clue what's wrong. But I think you got your answer anyway. But I think that is hilarious!! You should make a video of it and put it on youtube. ;D
