Selecting waypoints on GPS in a planned flight

Scenario:

On the Garmin 500:

From map view-
Press FPL to show waypoint list
Press PUSH CRSR
Use outer ring arrows to move the crsr up/down the list to highlight the desired 'to' waypoint.
Press MENU to get 'Activate Leg'
Press ENTER to activate.
Press FPL to return to map

BRG will show your heading to the new 'to' waypoint. Activating GPS nav will turn to intercept the active leg.

Another way to do this is to open up the flight and make note of all the way points you have already past. then choose the open IFR plan
select the same flight plan but edit out the way points you passed then save writing over the old plan [glow=yellow,2,300] Make sure you altitude is correct[/glow] then do not let it start from the departing airport and all you have to do is contact ATC and you are good to go.
If you had edited the original flight plan than make sure you make the same selections as before. I do it allot especially on a long flight.
I will use the map view and move my aircraft close to the last way point before I have to start descending . I then edit the old plan and refile.
It is a simple thing to do. 8-)

you can also...
open a new IFR flight and shoose the same one that your already on....
then when you get the option to move plane to airport, choose NO...
then when you go back to the cockpit, choose request ifr clearance, and it will start right where you are at, and not back to the begining of the flight.

That's where I ran into the problem, I know how to it through the ATC, but when you do (try it with keeping keeping the original flight plan in the GPS), and if you keep the aircraft on GPS, it will turn you around to the starting airport.

You would still have to access the flight plan in the gps and select which leg you want to continue on to properly continue the flight.

ok problem solved i guess... hampton... i was there in 83 say cheap trick, rolling stones, van halen and a few others, was stationed on a sub.
