Help! Problem!

Postby AussiePilot » Thu Jan 08, 2009 12:12 am

I have a real annoying problem with FSX (with Acceleration). I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem before, I just haven't seen it yet. In a normal flight it starts in virtual cockpit (I know thats normal) and when I get out of virtual cockpit view everything is still good but about 9 times out  of ten when I swap back to virtual cockpit it will be gray (most of the time) and the game will just freeze for about 20 seconds and then it will say: "Flight Simulator X has found a problem and needs to close" and then it will have " send or don't send error report. so I send it all the time and nothing has happened.

The game also freezes when I'm in virtual cockpit and go to a new view that is something other than virtual cockpit view. I  am getting really sick of this problem because in about 1 hour of flying I have to restart the flight about 20 times so it becomes extremely frustrating because FSX takes forever to start again!!

My specs are (I dont know if theres an order you have to write them down in):

Microsoft Windows XP (32bit) Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Intel Core 2 CPU
6400 @ 2.13 GHz
2.14 GHz, 3.00 GB of RAM
NVIDIA 7600 GS 256MB
Driver: 178.24

Once again I'm not sure if I wrote that down in an order and I hope you can make heads or tails of it. I would appreciate it sooooo much if someone could help me!! :D  ;D If you need to know anything else about anything just ask. ;)

THANKS! :D :D

I suspect that your video card is running out of memory. When you go to external view fsx has to load the outisde textures, then when you go back to vc it has to reload the old textures, if you had more video ram it would probably cache them for longer and improve the issue but it seems that isnt happening. My first suggestion is to try some later video drivers, the 180.48 seemd to be best so far, . If you have all your autogen sliders up you may want to knock them down abit, otherwise id suggest going for a 9800GTX 512 meg card to give yourself some headroom.
AMD P2 1090t CPU,4.1 GHZ. 8Gig DDr3 1600 MHz cas 9, ram, Nvidia GTX 560 ti 1 gig Video, Sound Blaster XFI Extreme audio

Hmm yeah that might be it. I think I might be able to get my hands on an 8800 GT card I'm not sure how much memory it has but I'l try it.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply! ;D

My sons computer had the same problem.  I fixed it by changing some of the setting related to the graphics.  Sorry, I don't know which ones!

You may try cutting down on some of the graphics settings that you can do without......."the ones with the sliders that allow you to increase/decrease them.  I think that was what worked for him.

Of course, a jamming graphics card will fix it too mor than likely ;)
