grounded

I lik trying to fly in different weather conditions, but when I put on anything like rain my flight is grounded.  Do I have to wait long for taxi and take off clearance?

I used the default gray and rainy weather at night.  But when I chose an IFR flight plane I received clearance.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Basic VFR Weather Minimums (FAR 91.155)

Class E

Under 10,000ft MSL:

3 Statute Mile Visibility

Must maintain 500ft below, 1000 ft above, and 2000 ft horizontal distance from all clouds

At or Above 10,000

5 Statute Mile Visibility

Must maintain 1000 ft below, 1000, ft above and 1 statute mile horizontal distance from all clouds.

Some Controlled airspaces must be clear of all clouds such as class B.

Class C and D require the above minimums.
-----------

;)

Basically if the weather does not meet these requirements ATC requires you to open an IFR flight plan, however you don't really need to contact ATC in the sim so its up to you to fly or not

I'm glad I know that.  I would have been waiting forever for the weather to clear...  I know I could have taken off without clearance but I try to avoid that.  I fly the sim for enjoyment and a hobby, so I doubt I'll ever be an expert in the game, but the more I fly the more I learn.  :-)

Are there routes that just cannot be calculated?  I'm doing some routes between New Foundland, Greenland, and Iceland and the only way to create a route is direct GPS.  For VFR and IFR FSX attempts to create a route but stops between 76% and 86%.
