Postby Ironhat2 » Mon Nov 24, 2008 5:56 pm

I dl this add on from FlightSim. For some reason i dont get a view from the pilot seat. Its from the seat behind the pilot. Anyone ever get this with this plane? Any suggestions on how to correct it to the pilot seat view ?

In the aircraft.cfg, look for the camera definition with the title for the pilots position, usually something like "Right Seat".
Then look for this line:

InitialXyz= (the three sets of numbers here are the position of the view point of the pilots head)

the first  is forward & backwards(X)
the second is left & right(Y)
the third is up & down(Z)

Adjust these in small increments to achieve the desired position.;)

:( I've adjusted everything I can think of and nothing seems to move this view point. So I tried using my ezdok camera to move up to the pilots seat and I think I now know why the view is there. There is no panel or gauges in the VC mode. :(
I think this is meant to be flown with the 2d panel, and when you look left or right in this view, it has the views of the wings from the current VC position. While it is a rather nice 2d panel, I'm pretty sure this is not what you were after. Also, this was a FS2002 model ported to FS9 and someone just added a few entries in the aircraft.cfg to make it appear as though it is an FSX model, so that might be a big part of the problem also.
I'll keep tweaking on it, because I don't like problems to go unsolved, but with these other issues, you might want to look for an alternate Bonanza. ;) Sorry.

thank you for taking the time on this. I'll check around and see if i can find a suitable Bonanza for FSX.

Anyone reading this that knows of one please advise.

It's not totally free, but here is one from abacus that's free to try for 7 days and it's only $10 if you do like what you see. Download link is at the bottom of the page. All other search results come back to the one you already have, and the payware Carenado one.

I checked out the Abacus version of this aircraft. Dl it to try before buying. It flew very well and had the vc. However the vc was poorly done imo. several major insturments don't work and are blury to boot including air speed, alt. and climb. I find this not worth buying for this alone. I hope this is not typical of their "preimum aircraft series".

I scanned their product list and would be intreasted in their world scenery upgrade. The before and after photos look great. Also their add on for CFS2 sounds good. But after the vc on this aircraft im not sure i want to try these other products.

Anyone have experience with any of their offerings ?

:( I've adjusted everything I can think of and nothing seems to move this view point.

Not sure what those InitialXyz= entries are for Shane. The pilot's viewpoint is defined under [Views] like this:

[Views]
eyepoint = -4.52, -.884, 1.4

This also affects the viewpoint (except in forward view) from the 2D panel. It's possible to tweak it to the correct position but as you've already found out, this model has no VC.* This is mentioned in Read Me First.txt in the zipfile.

*To be accurate it has a basic VC (Virtual Cockpit = Interior views of the 3D model from the cockpit) but this is not a DVC (DVC = Dynamic Virtual Cockpit with panel, functional gauges & animated controls etc.).

I was hoping you would come along and solve this one. ;)  I think it's a real let down to advertise FS2002/FS9 models as FSX ones with problems like this one left in. I was surprised by how few of these planes seem to have been modeld for MSFS.

I was hoping you would come along and solve this one. ;) Your's had a panel in the VC? I must have grabbed a different one then, but there were only two at FS listed for FSX, and they were the same one, just different colors.

The VC has no panel as the aircraft is intended for use with the 2D panel. I found several different versions of the same basic model by Chuck Dome. You can download the original FS2002 version right here at Simviation. http://www.simviation.com/fs2002props32.htm Strangely enough it mentions a DVC. I'll check it out later.

Still, I think it's a real let down to advertise FS2002/FS9 models as FSX ones with problems like this one left in. I was surprised by how few of these planes seem to have been modeld for MSFS.  :-/

This is a 2002/4 aircraft "updated" by a 3rd party for use in FSX, usually without the original author's knowledge or permission. There are mixed opinions on this practice so I'd better keep my big trap shut. ;)

Sorry about that first quote, I edited it as soon as I re-read your first post there, I just misread it the first time through. It looks and flies rather nice in FS9, the DVC shows up, but it's nothing really special, I think it's probably a texture issue not showing it in FSX.
I agree with you on that second half. ;D
