Hi Folks

For ease of installation
all 'Visit Series' packages now use a ClickTeam executable installer.

The installer will -
- Detect your FSX folder location.
- Place the rewards & matching REWARD_CONTENTS.txt files into the appropriate sub-folder.
- Place an appropriately named uninstaller and README into your FSX root folder.

Hi Folks

Gents -
Done.

While we're on this topic -

Could you please point me to the related forum rules.

I had a look around within the site
couldn't see any such stickies,
and only spotted one instruction
related specifically to the dedicated screenshot forum.

I don't recall there being such "rules" when I originally signed up, (Jan 2005).

Paul, sorry that the guidelines were not made clear to you, they are available HERE for your perusal.

As for hotlinking, as you have pointed out, the avatar "I have my own pic" option isn't clearly worded.. this has been brought up before but is a YaBB issue, we ask for all images (avatar, sig and posted images) to be uploaded to the Simviation server. Nothing to do with bandwidth/ or webspace.. This is because we have members all over the world, some of which do not have super fast Broadband connections.. and would struggle to load images anyway.. hotlinking just makes the forum run slower, especially when avatars and sigs are linked.. imagine you posted 5 replies in a thread with an outlinked avatar and sig, the load times would be unbearable for someone on 56k dial-up.

;)

EDIT: Thankyou for uploading both your sig and avatar, it's appreciated...  8-)

Will these eventually be available in one giant package? And how about some rewards for my ships visiting some ports? Thanks for the work you guys are doing! ;)

VISIT SERIES - COUNTRIES - COLLECTIONS - Release Cycle

Postby basys » Sat Nov 01, 2008 4:43 pm

Hi Folks

Shane -
Cheers.

Hope you're enjoying flying
outwith your normal haunts to acquire them.

Please would you expand on your Ships & Ports comments.

I'd looked back at your previous posts,
but couldn't see anything related.

VISIT SERIES - COUNTRIES - COLLECTIONS - Release Cycle

The following is a generic response
to various questions posted in this, or other forums,
or received by PM & email.

Due to download size practicalities
it's unlikely there'll be a single All_IN_ONE download package.

By extrapolation,
I expect the worldwide coverage collection of MASTER detailed rewards
to be approximately 100MB in size.

I'll probably release them as 3 packages.
N.B.
This is a long time off, (at earliest summer 2009).

I'd never intended to release the UPDATES packs
as frequently as I have done recently, (see below).

It's always been my intent to release
intermediate EVERYTHING_TO_DATE type collections.

The first of these will be released after UPDATES - PACK 10,
some time early next year.

The suggestion of once-a-month releases

Was just a question of curiosity. I grab the new ones as soon as I see them mentioned to stay up to date! ;)
The ships one was just a thought that popped in my head while typing the post. Don't even know if it would be possible, but since discovering your site, I've downloaded quite a few ocean going vessels and use them quite a bit and thought it would be cool if there was a way to get a reward for sailing from one port to another, like the planes get from flying from place to place. I imagine if I traveled from one sea plane base to another it could work that way. Just a thought.  ;)

Hi Folks

Shane -
Doh.    :-[
My apologies, it should have clicked.

Glad you're enjoying sailing in FSX.

Yes it should be possible,
as already posted in FS-Shipyards forum.

From previous testing,
an 'airport' with ICAO & start-points by itself isn't enough.

These water 'airports' would probably at least require a runway.
Further testing required.

I do have a package of 'ports' already in the pipeline.

I really should take a look around other forums I guess! I spend so much time here, and the relevant people such as yourself always come here to keep us updated that I never go looking around! ;D
I will go take a look at this, and I'm looking forward to the ports package! ;)

Hi Folks

The latest detailed expansion to the worldwide-coverage sets of 'Visit Series' rewards.
This will probably be the last release for 2008.

I've included a coverage map
to indicate which countries currently have multiple rewards, (green).
All other countries have single rewards, (white or yellow).

You can view it here -
