enhancing fsx

Postby coreservers » Thu Nov 13, 2008 7:26 am

Hi.
I'm very happy with fsx, on the systm below, but really want to try to improve the appearance, especially the ground textures. I already have fscenex installed, but get a lot of blurries. I used to use nhancer but now have an ati card the HD3870 512mb.

Any advice?

I've had a 3870 and couldn't get the blurries down to nVidia levels w/nHancer.  In CCC move the general 3d slider to quality, click apply.  In fsx trilinear and AA checked.  I've tried tinkering with the individual settings in fsx and couldn't really do any better than that.

*IF* your settings are too high, then the texture clarity will be sacrificied, as it gets drawn last. There's a balance to the visuals and if one aspect demands too much, such as scenery objects and autogen, then other areas get sacrificed.

*IF* that's what is happening to you, then moving the sliders a click to the left may bring textures back to sharpness.

Hope this doesnt knock the top off your tea cake but Flight simulator was designed with nvidia in mind, therefore to get a graphics card which would run a performance just as good as an nvidia card you would have to pay about another 3rd of the price more. nvidia is what you need for fsx

Hi coreservers, I'm using two HD3850 in crossfire.  I have my settings set for application setting, AI is off.  I'm happy with what I've got.  Post your final settings when you get it figured out.  I haven't tried tweaking anything, I just got it set to what works.

some really good points, I tried moving the autogen down from very dense to dense and adding the "tree and building lines" and it seens to have become sharper, I'll post some snaps later tonight.
