Trouble with FSX Scenery Addons

Postby koketah » Sun Oct 12, 2008 7:33 pm

Can someone help me a bit with Scenery files. I installed Nestor D'Angelo's Shanghai, and everything seems to be ok except for all the buildings. They are all sticks of black (??). And the bridges turned black too.

Also, when you double click FSX addon folder, should there just be two more folders there (Scenery and Texture folders)? I'm ok with airplanes but scenery is driving me nuts.

Thanks to anyone for the help.

When you install the scenery you should have a folder called Shangahai or similar with a texture and scenery folder in it. move this complete folder into addon scenery folder. DO NOT copy the texture and scenery folder contents into the texture and scenery folders in addon scenery. Once you have put the folder in addon scenery, start FSX, go to settings, scenery library, click add new area, then browse to the addon scenery folder and select shanghai. click ok and it should then update the scenery index. All done! go to free flight and happy flying. ;)

For your second question, initially from default install there will only be the two folders in the addon scenery folder. you add more as addon scenery but keep them as seperate files. This way you can enable/disable, or uninstall much easier if you encounter problems like this one. ;)

Here is mine: Notice the Texture and Scenery folders are seperate from the others, with each additional folder having a texture and scenery folder inside.

Thanks for the help. I think I've got it figured out. Changed it to how you show, and the buildings appeared as they should.
