UTX Error

I have spent literally the entire two days on formatting HDDs and installing Vista x64 and FSX and all its addons SO I am very TIRED.

I just installed UTX USA and patched it with 1.1 and 1.2 and the Acceleration patch. I installed it, clicked the upgrade thing, installed 1.1, restarted, clicked the upgrade thing, installed 1.2, restarted, clicked the upgrade thing, installed the Accel patch, restarted. Then when I go to transfer settings to FSX Vista tells me it has an error and must close. I tried reinstalling and it gives me the same error. WTF?

are you opening then closing the UTX interface before installing the next patch?

Are you using the patch system which prepares UTX for upgrade or are you manually setting the upgrade system through the UTX interface?

Vista? Is UAC disabled?

Just throwing things out there.. otherwise I suggest you hit the UTX forums where they can probably help you quicker and better than I can

Hey, Nick. Thanks for the response.

The UAC is DISABLED. Should I try running FSX after I install each patch? And yes, I am using the patch system in UTX.

I'll try again, this time loading FSX after each patch, and post back here.

Update:

I just installed the version without any patch updates and even that doesn't work. Does the UAC have to be turned on for it to work?

EDIT: I tried with the UAC ENABLED and still didn't work. I guess it's on to the UTX forums. Thanks anyways  :)

I found the fix! The installation of FEX SHD changes the "TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD" line in the FSX.cfg to 4096 as opposed to the normal 1024 which is what is expected by UTX. A simple change of the line fixed the entire problem and now allows me to use UTX... WOW!

I dont use FEX SHD.. its BS in my opinion and the clouds look like fake paintings


4096 tex hit frames and I hve several 1024 themes that do the job quite well without the 4096 hit on the settings I use

The 4096 definitely impact frames and gives me a lot of stutters, so I don't use them. I like the the 2048 textures. They aren't as much as the 4096 but also have much realism in them, which does the job perfect for me.
