The bar you posted has nothing to do with ATC this bar will only show if you have requested the EFIS information of a airport. You pressed a wrong number whe clicking on the atc window. 8-)

I want to shut it down period. I know I can right click and close it for the present transmission, but it pops right back up when the tower comes back on which is pretty often. It's a pain in the butt when you are taking screen-shots. I don't mind listening to the tower, but I don't need to see that banner scrolling across the screen. There has to be a way to shut it down. I haven't found the way, but I'm still looking.

Well what key do I hit to get rid of it and keep it off? Whatever it is.

I seem to remember FS9 having an option to disable, but I don't seem to see it in FSX... :-/

There is an option in FSX menu to disable scrrolling text. That will do it.

You're in new zealand! That is Whenuapai's ATIS channel which unfortunatly is FSX's default coms channel. Iget the same problem when starting in Auckland. All you need to do is change the coms channel as soon as you spawn. It's just an unfortunate coincidence

Swap to tower or traffic frequency and its gone.  If you disable it its gone completely.  Of course it has to do with ATC, its a function called from and stopped from the ATC menu in an aircraft situation.  Only in a tower view situation it becomes part of the frequency settings.  In both instances its all about ATC frequencies.

That particular 'green text bar' is a display of ATIS (Airport Traffic Information System) and is only active whenever you have one of the COM radios tuned to a nearby ATIS frequency.

As such it is completely independent of the setting for "Show ATC Text" in the config settings.
