almost 4hrs to get FSX reinstalled.

FSX was messing up for me for awhile, so I decided, to clean my computer, took FSX and all my other games off. It took about 30mins just to get FSX off. So I went to reinstall it, went all the way though, error 1722 at the very end, great, searched the web found this one page. went to reinstall again. Error 1722 again. Ok found the Microsoft's solution. Went to go try it again, well now error 1607. Off to look again.

And now after the 4th go around FSX is installed, SP1 is installed and SP2 is downloading. I just hope I dont have to go through with it all my I get my new rig later this winter. ::)

Wow! You're lucky. We tried for many many hours to install it on my dads laptop (when I didn't have my computer yet) and we got 1702 and it never was resolved. ::) Mysterious........

You can thank M$ for all of that because of the way they decided to handle registering for FSX  when ever you uninstall FSX you have to run a special program that will allow you to reinstall it. Otherwise you will not be able to reinstall it.It is a real pain in the A****** if you ask me. ::)

Yeah, I also just refomatted XP and reinstalled FSX over the weekend.

When palanning to reintsall FSX it's faster if you first back up key files and folders like your FGXcfg, aircraft, gauges, effects, "Add on Scenery" folders, etc
Also, your "flight simulator files" in your documents folder.

Just copy them back into your fresh FSX/xp install and you're quickly back to where you were. It's all the add-ons like UTX/GTX, etc
