FMC?

Postby Rich H » Thu Sep 18, 2008 2:55 pm

Anyone know where I can get a FMC? I have got payware planes, with FMS but when I install them into a another panel, the game freezes when I try to pick the plane or the FMC is just blank. Shouldn't Microsoft include them with the game?

I would think that you would need to program a different FMC for each aircraft, as otherwise certain features would not work.

The VasFMC product gives you a working FMS for any plane. Its not really for GA craft, but it will work with the C-172 if you want.
Although full Vnav is not implemented yet, the lvl/chg feature is sooo much more realistic than using the "speed" function on climbs and descents. In the default planes, setting a "speed" of say..240kts and a
VS of 2000fpm may be fine at 5000 ft., but at FL320 you'll likely stall out because the autopilot is trying to maintain the 2000fpm using power. Lvl/chg will pitch the nose to hold your desired speed all the way up or down as long as your using a realistic profile.
You can also quickly program in your route from rwy to rwy including SIDs and STARs, grab a quick METAR of your destination and I think enroute winds aloft...but I'm not sure.
It's in open testing right now. It is a bit of a pain to get up and running, but what isn't with this hobby.
Hmmm...maybe this belongs in "Addons"
