Issue with MS Flight simulator FSX deluxe edition

Postby svs132 » Fri Sep 19, 2008 9:12 pm

Hi Guys,

Frankly I am not sure if this is something wrong that I am doing in configuring settings or viewing but I seem to have an issue with Tthe latest FSX deluxe edition.
I observed that when I am flying a commercial airliner say a Boeing, the take-off does not appear to be a smooth seamless and realistic  take-off . I am invoking the rear view at this point and find that on using the pitch up key at threshold take-off speed the plane seems to just lift up as though it were a helicopter and it seems as though the ground is doing all the movement and work  while the plane is stationary.. This is really bugging and frustrating to see. I ought to be able to see the nose of the aircraft pitch up with the aircraft body following later in an angular trajectory. Pls let me know if there is something wrong that I am doing because I never found this issue on flying a commercial airliner using FS2002 professional.

Thanks a ton,
Svs

I think you're just being mislead by the perspective of the view ('aircraft view'-tail). The view is locked to the attitude of the aircaft, so the aircraft always appears at the same attitude to your screen.

Try one of the 'outside views' (spot or locked spot) and pan to your desired viewpoint.

There are more views available in FSX than you had in FS2002, so experiment.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Umm, this may sound like a crazy idea, but shouldn't you be looking out the front windows while taking off instead of looking out the back from the tail...? ;D

Hi.. Thanks ..Ok will give that a try although I did try out the various available view, etc. options in vain.
I hope this is not a  technical flaw  or a bug in this current FSX deluxe version because it was like a perfect go on the same using the FS2002 professional edition.

Hi again..
Addendum.. Actually I am switching to the top rear view as the plane takes off and it does not present a rosy picture.
This issue like I mentioned is encounteredin the FSX deluxe edition and not in the FS2000 prof. edition

FSX is not FS2000.  You are viewing a *aircraft* view in FSX, as opposed to the "outsied" view.  The *aircraft* view is a "fixed camera" view, although I believe some have the "nod" effect for shifting the view slightly when pitching, rolling or yawing, but by and large, they are fixed.

The view you want it the "outside" view.  The "outside" view is the first view option you see after pressing the "s" key when in the cockpit view.  Pressing the "a" key cycles through a "spot", "fixed spot", "fly by" and a "overhead" view.  The "Spot" and "fixed spot" are controled by the number pad with "Numbers Lock" "on".

Hi..

Thanks for the input.. So you mean its in how I am viewing .
But just as a curiosity is FSX deluxe backward compatibile to FS2000. prof. or is there an apparent  compromise on the flight quality/realism  for a more advanced product/version with more features and options..
Thanks

Yes. It is the view that you have selected. Try the "outside" view, as I think those views are the ones you are looking for.

As far as backwards compatible, not really. *Some* add-ons *may* be compatible, but for anything from FS2000, it's very rare to find one that will work in FSX without a lot of tweaking and hair-pulling.

As far as compromise between FS2000 and FSX, I couldn't say, since I've never flown FS2000.

Like I said, far and few in between, but I've stumbled across a few.

But I might be thinking that I have a few (very few) FS2000 that worked in FS2004

I don't think I've run across any FS2004's that didn't work in FSX after re-aliasing panels or sound for those that needed it.
