Forcing Vertical Synch with ATI

Postby Papafox » Wed Sep 17, 2008 3:19 am

I have an ATI graphics card in my Windows Vista machine but have had no luck in turning vertical sync on with MSFS X. I am unfamiliar with any vertical synch commands in the MSFS X setup, so I suppose I have to do it with the ATI software.
My setup:
Windows Vista Premium
MSFS X with Acceleration pack
ATI 4870 graphics card
ATI Control Center Software version 2008.0731.2322.39992
Asus P5b Premium MB with Q6600 & 2GB 6400 ram

I know the vertical sync is  off because I get over 60fps on a monitor with max of 60 fps. I also see horizontal lines moving in a vertical direction within the propeller arc. Any suggestions on how to turn on vert synch would be much appreciated.
Thx!

To get vertical sync in FSX simply lock the frame rate at 58 or lower.

Make sure you leave V-Sync OFF in the Catalyst Control Center.

That approach seems to work. Who would have thought it could be so easy?
